The Letter from Chapter One

Dove,

You told me to burn the letter, and I did. But you never told me I couldn't send a letter back. My fiancé will merely believe this is a letter to a friend. Though, I'm not sure what we are to each other anymore.

Where do I even begin? Thank you for hating me, thank you for letting me know you moved on and thank you for realising how much I hurt you? Perhaps I should start over. I can't find the right words or the right pieces to your puzzle. You have always been you, and I've always been me, but I don't think that's enough.

I believe you when you say you hated me. God, I hated me too. There's not a single moment in this life when I regret what we had. I miss it every day. You and I were the greatest romance that happened to me,

but we were also the worst. Two sides of a coin, never supposed to see each other despite being one.

Thank you for letting me know you're okay. We said we were right for each other, and we played pretend, but that didn't hide the truth. I don't deserve your forgiveness. We brought different sides of ourselves to the table, good and bad, like tsunamis disguised as gentle waves. It was merely a lie to our hearts.

I'm sorry, Dove. I'm sorry we didn't work out, I'm sorry I hurt you, I'm sorry I wasn't enough or the right person for you. You can write me a million letters of how much you hated me, but as long as you're safe, that's enough for me.

My fiancé is calling me. Thank you, Dove. Thank you for the forgiveness I don't deserve.

From,
Beatr
