Opposites Attract

A Messy (and more realistic) Love Story

Oscar Wilisy usually hung out alone. He was worried about his grades more than anything, he needed to keep them up if he wanted to be a Lawyer. He often worried about his grades dropping, even a little. He knew that he didn't really have a lot of fun. He didn't have time to play around. He was an adult. He pushed open the door that lead up the stairs from the back courtyard. The courtyard was old, messy, and a tad bit dodgy. So he was the only one to use it, other than the standard druggies at night. It was his place to relax and study. There was an older shed in it, which, using the things his father taught him, he fixed up. Now it was safe, and even a little cozy. The tiny hut was hidden in an area shrouded by vines, and with his smaller stature, he managed to squeeze back there. It was getting colder though so he had to go inside. Continuing up the stairs he flipped open his book How to be Persuasive that he'd found in the library. As he read he walked slowly, thinking if he were about to run into something, he'd see it. He was wrong.

As he turned the page, he ran smack into another boy. Startled he looked up. The boy staggered, and Oscar panicked. "I'm sorry," He said softly, "My bad."

"Oh no, it was my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going, I should have," The boy started. Oscar made eye contact, unwillingly. However, as the looked at each other, Oscar froze up. The boy had black hair, darker than any he'd seen, and his eyes were grayish blue. He was adorable.

The boy faltered a bit. "I... um. I should have watched where I w-was...." He sighed. Oscar felt the nervousness radiating off the boy, and wondered if a large part of it was his own.

Oscar smiled softly,"I'm Oscar." He held his hand out for the boy to shake

"Um... Ezra." He murmured, looking upset.

Oscar nodded "Hope I see you around." He said. Then he turned and opened his book again. He didn't read though, he was more focused on the boy. He was frustrated that he hadn't been warmer, but was happy the encounter had happened. Maybe...

Maybe.
