The Key to the Forest

Two brothers, about to uncover a BIG secret...

"AGH! It's cursed!"

Rybeck threw the rusty piece of metal across the room and it went straight through the attic window. With broken glass everywhere, Strycker handed his brother the scroll and Rybeck muttered something under his breath.

"Now look what you've done," Strycker said loudly, running down the stairs. Rybeck followed.

"It's not cursed," Strycker said once they were in the backyard. He was on his hands and knees searching for the mysterious object in the soft green grass.

"But why did it say it was?" Rybeck whined. "I'm allergic to cursed things and you know that."

"You know what, Ry?" Strycker’s gaze shifted from the old key to his stubborn brother.

"No, what?"

"I think it's time we head on an adventure. We need to find the locket and put an end to this...curse or whatever."

"No way," Rybeck replied, backing away from his brother and the key. "I-It's too dangerous. And I'm also allergic to danger."

"Rybeck, your middle name is danger."

"No, it's-" When Rybeck realized Strycker was being sarcastic his shoulders slumped and he sighed, knowing there was no way out. "Fine, whatever. I'm in."

"Yes," Strycker whispered, pumping his fist in the air.

“We should go pack bags then,” Rybeck decided promptly, brushing

the grass off his knees. His whole attitude about the adventure had changed just like that, and Strycker was satisfied.

“Okay. Meet in the kitchen in five minutes.”

“Are you sure about this?” Rybeck asked worriedly as they walked inside the house and up the stairs.

“No,” replied Strycker, opening the door to his room.
