Piece #4

A beautiful and arboreal campus that lay somewhere in upper east corner of the United States. Fall as the two-walked side by side. Spring as they walked apart. The two could never compete with the world, for when they were together the world tore itself apart in beauty. There wasn’t a word spoken between the two that day that didn’t ascertain to the greater extents of ones mind in secrecy and devoid of fact, and only emotion. The world could agree to their harmonies and only few knew, that they were to live two contradicting lives. The sun marveled overhead. Laden with 90’s punk rock, this wasn’t a dream, or a foretelling of a prophecy, or a merry existence, it wasn’t a rock star, it wasn’t a deviant, it wasn’t a no show, it wasn’t a draw of a bad card, it wasn’t a movie, it hardly resembled a screen play, it hardly predicted with any certainty the uncertainty of the air, the screen of lies, a screen of dumb quirkiness, a fit of joy, a spring of incongruous nature, the dark gray buildings,

foretold only what they had been looking for. As they scoured the walks and buildings for an once of space, as commuters stopped as they rode by, as the streets filled with dumb nonsensical behaviors, as the moon spoke at night to the lying world, for those of who most naïve and everybody was, as the grass emitted a pulse, as the sun reflected off the windows and the light reigned supreme over the mind, the walks contradicted oneself, as a stature of nature in of itself, as the secrets lay hidden in the contrasts of foliage and the markings of old renaissance and goodness in architecture that everybody secretly cared for. The whim of life and the whim of night contradicted itself once more, for the night was for play and the day was for study, and none of it mattered to the failing and flailing of the musician who sought privacy and nature in the matter of timing. And so the weather took to the night. As the buildings alit with history stood paramount over the walks and the path sparked

with evanescent glow, it was anything but ephemeral. One’s mind must have made a marking with a quiet sufficiency, quite sufficiently.
