Train Ride Home

Returning home with unfinished business.

The world went red as Quispe focused on her breathing. The pain a rampant fire through her veins. Her hand twisted and jerked with the snap of bone and sinew. She had to ignore it if she was to keep the car together. The walls bulged unnaturally, so ready to slip her tenuous grasp and bring her an ending before she could do what needed doing. Its beginning would not be her conclusion.

The smell came next. Quispe thought she'd grown accustomed to the choke of it. How wrong she'd been.

"Don't play games. Let go. Let me have this train. I'd hate to take it from you. Do you really think you can hold it? Look. I'm trying to let you keep your hand. Let me have the train."
