Why Me?

A night to remember.

At the hospital, the nurses checked my pulse, my heart rate, and all the things that the human body must attain in order to perform its daily physical tasks. But what about the emotional tasks? I sure as hell didn't have any emotions left in me to get through the day.

That same day, I was checked out of the hospital. I scanned the front entrance to make sure nobody was nearby. I had to make the trek to my car. Luckily, it was day time and nobody was around, so I didn't have to worry about anyone cornering me in the dark. That still didn't help my thoughts.

My friends called me because they wanted to have dinner and drinks again. I didn't even look at the voicemail. My boss checked up on me to see if I was okay and if I needed sick leave. I scrolled the notification away. Nothing mattered anymore. Physically, I was okay by all accounts considering the beating I took.

I shuddered at the thought. The beating. My voice was an instrument to which he played the beating towards. The higher it pitched, the better he was doing. He added a violent pace to my voice, one that left me feeling discombobulated and confused.

I never wanted to step out of my house again. Never again would I put myself in a position where I could be forced against. "But what if he gets inside the house? What if he finds you," my nagging thoughts told me. "Useless, useless, useless, that's all you are," my thoughts bullied me.

My thoughts never lie to me. If it were to happen again, There's nothing I can do.
