Daughter of the Sun

A Blonde haired witch is born

La Hija de Sol. That's what the people in my village call me. It means daughter of the sun. A beautiful nickname for someone who was born cursed. Yes you heard me correctly. I was born cursed. Cursed how? Well I'm a witch born into an super religious family and oh boy do I have stories. Well one story. My life story. Its a roller coaster.

And I'll start from the beginning. My parents beginning...

My mother and father were both catholic school students. One year they went on a mission trip to Africa. That's when the whole love thing kicked off and so one night they snuck out to spend time together. While out they came across a ritual. The man in a lion thing had just cut open a goat and saw my mother and father. He grabbed her putting goats blood on her stomach and saying something in African. That night was hard to forget so the next morning they asked the guide what the man meant. The guide explained to them that they were cursed to have a witch and the only way they'd know the child

was a witch was if they had blonde hair. My parents were horrified and could have easily avoided this by splitting up, but no, their love was too "pure".

A few years after the incident I popped out. Hair grew in blonde and my dad wanted to throw me off a bridge, but my mother said there had to be a way to save me. I went to church everyday, went to catholic school, and was baptized, but nothing could prevent it. I am inevitable.

I had just hit puberty. I was 10. Just got my first period and my first run in with a bully. She had always said I was weird for having blonde hair. Junja was her name. She looked like all the little girls in the village. Dark hair tan skin. Then me... Tan skin blonde hair light eyes awkwardly tall. She always found something to poke fun at. On that one fateful day it was my very noticeable mustache.

She bumped into me in the hall.
" Sorry sir. " She giggled
" I'm a girl." I furrowed my brow.
" Your mustache says other wise." She poked me.
" leave me alone."

I covered my face.
" You have more facial hair than my brother. And he's 13." She laughed.
" I said leave me alone." I shoved her into a locker. All the doors flew open.

Everyone in the hallways looked at me in shock and all I could do was stand there. Girls were ushered into rooms and the priest was called. He called my parents and told them.

My mother sobbed hysterically.
" There has to be something you can do?" My father pleaded.
" I'm afraid not sir." The priest spoke in low tones." If you knew about this before hand why didn't YOU stop it."
" We didn't know how." My mom sniffed.
" I'm afraid she's too far gone." He shook his head." The devil had a heavy hand on her since birth."

My mother began crying uncontrollably again. My father comforted her and we all left the school.

Dinner was hard... My younger brother had no clue what was going on and it had to be explained.
" Your sister... Is special." My mother said lightly.
" I thought everyone was special." My brother responded

innocently.
" No... She's..." My mother searched for the words.
" The spawn of the devil himself!" I cried and stormed away.
The sound of my father explaining everything was drowned out by my tears.

I eventually fell asleep and my parents just left me alone. Until late into the night. I woke up to the sound of crying over me. When I opened my eyes there my father stood. A knife in his hands.
" I'm sorry." He whispered.
" Alberto!" My mother screeched.
He dropped the knife. The rest of that night was a blur. I just remembering hearing " She has to leave." And that's it.
