Kennedy: The Ominous

The story of Ominous.

The moon was at its peak, shinning like a big, polished silver coin hanging at the north of the infinite sky. His eyes were open wide, his hairs were leaning towards the direction of the wind and his back was resting beside the infamous tree, standing tall, took a deep breath, the smell of the infamous flowers were tickling his heart, the sound of the wind was fading away his loneliness, the loneliness of the boy who had been abandoned by his family, abandoned because his mother died giving birth to him, abandoned because after 3 weeks of his birth his father passed way too, the tribe of that village had decided to put him with the other orphans, everything was okay until one day on this 7th birthday the village had to face the heaviest rainfall of the decade.

Soon they found the series of events and arguments to call that 7 years old kid an ominous and named him Kennedy.

His feet were inside the muddy pond, numb, result of the rain, his lower body was covered by the strip of cotton

cloth which the tribal used a year ago to wrap him and throw into the pond filled by alligators. As the tribe believed that alligators are guards of the doorway to hell and according to them Kennedy belongs nowhere other than hell.

He bends to see his face in the reflection of the still muddy pond in the moonlight, he looked deep into his own dark eyes and reach his hand to bring the water close to his face and water the moon before quenching his thirst.

The water was cold and he was unable to breathe, he can't move, he can't shout and he can't wait for his cold death to arrive but it seems like that day even death had abandoned him.

After quenching his thirst he lay down on the muddy pond, the pond starts to swallow him little by little but the boy knows it didn't have enough space to swallow him whole.

"You know that you can't do it.", said the 8 years old Kennedy.
"Does that mean that I give up on trying?", asked the muddy pound.
Kennedy smiled

and whispered, "No."
He lay down facing the moon and said, "Buggy, sleepy."
The water starts to flow away from the boy and the infamous flowers of the pond moved toward his head and the infamous tree bend toward him.

The flowers formed a cushion and tree-covered his body by its leaves, his back was now on the dry land and at 13 feet apart the alligators circled him, this is how he lives his life now.

"Thank you for saving me.", he whispered.
"Thank you for coming to us.", they greeted.
