Beginning to an End:Chapter 1/pt1

The field trip to the Spring Fair is coming up.

Com'on, come on, end already! I ran my hands through my hair. I couldn't take it any longer. The class, the teacher, how the clock ticked ever so slightly. Why won't you end?!
I glanced up, my eyes falling on the girl sitting in the row in front of me. Ambrina Dancer, or Amber for short, the girl I'm going to make mine. Her head turned to the side to look at a poster on the wall. I watched her eyes scan the letters reading "English is Cool!". Did I believe those words? Absolutely not. Did I want to believe those words? Not particularly.
Her eyes flicked to the side, in my direction. I swore in my head, feeling my cheeks flush red. Quickly, I turned my eyes to stare down at my notebook to make it look like I was reading the notes on the page. After a few moments, I glanced up. She had reverted her eyes back to the teacher. I lowered my head into my hands and took a deep breath. How could I ask her if I can hardly handle her looking at me? I couldn't get those golden eyes

out of my head. They matched her name well.
I closed my eyes and went over the plan again. Amber wasn't wearing her glasses today, must've put in contacts if she was able to read the poster earlier. Anyway, I was gonna tell her "You know, I don't need glasses to see, but I can see you and me together." It's foolproof! She'll be so charmed that she'll say yes. All I had to do was wait for class to end.
My phone buzzed next to me. I look over to see a text from my friend Zane. It read "Where are you?!" in all caps. I glanced at the time on the top of the screen, 11:29. The class ends at 11:30.
I tapped my desk impatiently. I couldn't handle it! I was normally a pretty patient guy, but I don't know what it was that was causing this.
Almost as if my prayers had been answered, the bell rang. I couldn't help the smile that flashed across my face. I snapped up and snatched my bag off my seat. Right as I took a single step, I feel someone grab my sleeve. I had to keep myself

from turning and telling the person to go away.
"Krow, wait!" a high pitched voice sounded in my ear.
"What do you need Carla?"
"I wanted to return your notes from math class and say thanks," she smiled brightly, but it seemed half forced.
"Your welcome," I turned away, "Now, my apologies, but I got to g-" She's not there.
I looked all around the room. Where did she go? I couldn't believe it, she was gone so quick. How did she leave so fast? I had only looked away for a few seconds, and the door is way across the class. Just how?
I had to lean against the desk. I but my head in my hands once again and groaned. Why..? just why?

"Wait. Let me get this straight," Zane was trying to keep it together, "You let the girl you claim to love, even though you have never spoken a word to, slip away over a notebook."
I nodded slightly.
"Dude, that's hilarious!" he was bent over laughing, causing him to stop in his tracks. We were walking to the school cafeteria for lunch. He suddenly

went uncharacteristically serious, "You two have never even talked to one another, yet you're so determined to get her to love you. What's the big deal?"
"I don't know..." I took a deep breath and looked down at the floor, "There's just something about her... I just can't get her out of my head."
Zane just stared at me, but I didn't notice and kept talking.
"Maybe it's how she's always raising her hand in class and able to get the answer right, or how I've seen her help anyone who needs it, even if they're not the nicest. Or maybe how I've seen her stand up to the jerks who like to mess with the first years. Or maybe her eyes, the piercing gold that perfectly represents her heart as well as her name, that stops me in my tracks when I see them. I'm not sure..."
I glanced up to see Zane staring at me in shock mouthing Wow... to himself. He cleared his throat, "Well you better find out what it is, and fast, cause honestly dude, you're losing it."
