The day began as per usual. The crack of dawn blinding me as I awoke, the blaring sound of the alarm clock, but something just felt off. Of course like all days I got ready for another day of what seemed to be a never-ending year of highschool. Mom was at work and Dad was no longer with us, so I geared myself up for another day. While preparing a bowl of cereal I noticed something on the TV that would propel me into yet another bad day, the screen flickered like always, stupid antennae. A reporter stood in front of a school, but not just any school, my school, “Westside Creek High is under investigation after Rachel Smith and Polly Thornton have gone missing. If you have seen these girls, under any circumstances, please immediately report it to your local police station. My name is Felicia Howie from Westside Creek News, and back to Tony.” The message was clear, my two best friends were gone and no one knew where they were.
Of course, school was canceled because of this, two very popular

cheerleaders just went missing? It isn’t very plausible when you really get down to it. But since we weren’t going to school, I decided I’d just hang around and hopefully drift back to sleep. Well luckily for me that happened, but of course, just 40 minutes later I awoke to a dozen phone calls and messages from Polly, just as I picked up the phone to see what she said though, the phone rang and to my surprise it was Polly. I answered cautiously, “Hello?” a woman's voice answered, quivering, “Garret? Have you seen Polly, she didn’t come home last night and I’m getting worried,” it was then that I realized it was Polly’s mom, “Oh, hello Kristian, no I haven’t seen her, yes I’m getting worried too, but I’ll bet she’s just over at Rachel’s house,” I did my best to reassure her even though I too was scared out of my mind, “Oh dear, I’m so scared, I tried calling her so many times and then found her phone here, I hope she’s OK,” it was in this instant that I remembered that Polly was going out

with last night and that I’d never heard back from him either, “Um, Kristian I’m sorry but have you seen Jack either?” a low but definite sigh was heard from the other side, “Oh” she paused and trembled, “She was with Jack too?” just then Mom called and so I wrapped up the conversation and hung up, “Hey mom,” I spoke as calmly as I could, “Sweetie where is your brother?” I didn’t so I responded like so, “I’m going to call him,” then she hung up. An hour later I received a call from Jack.
