The Syo Chronicles Part Three

A girl, three guys, two dark forces.

"Hey, are you OK, Syo? You look-" "STOP ASKING IF I'M OK!" I screamed. I was so angry, angry because I had someone I barely knew hanging around, angry that I had been taken to the hospital in the first place. Angry because everything, no matter what I did, would never matter to anyone.
I would always be remembered as the girl who had almost died at school because a group of kids had beaten me up.
"ARGH!" I screamed, and then I stormed off, leaving 347 wide-eyed middle schoolers behind me.

"How was school, Syo?" my mom asked as soon as I stormed in the door. "Fine," I muttered, and my mom looked at me with worry.
"Are you sure? Liam said-" "I DON'T CARE WHAT LIAM SAID!" I shouted, and then I regretted it. She was only trying to help...
Don't mess up your reputation, Syo. Oh, shut up, Inner Voice.
"Sorry...", and my mom sighed.
"Go get ready for dinner. It'll be done in a second."
I walked up the stairs, silently wishing that I could take back every single wrong thing I had said,

and lock it in a box, where it could never escape.

I climbed out of my window and hopped onto the balcony. It was a skill my father had taught me, and I had mastered it by this time. Sure, it would be simple to just walk out of the back door, but this was a special passage. One that reminded me of him.
"Hey, Dad." Another ritual that he told me about.
"If you speak into the wind, it'll carry the messages you want to tell your relatives up there, in Heaven," he said, smiling. "How?" I would ask, and he would smile. "Because, the wind is your friend, Syo. Remember that." and then, we would go back to the house, where Mom would be waiting.
"I did, Dad. I did." I said aloud to the wind.
"How are you doing up there? Is it as bright as you said it would be?" I asked, and I could almost feel him beside me, saying," Yes, that and so much more." I smile to myself.
"I'm doing OK, I guess. I got sent to the hospital, I passed out at school. Although, you probably know that. Watching over

me, I guess."
"Can you, like, send me a message, a sign, anything? I miss you and-"
I could hear coughing, and it was close to me.
"Oh, sorry, I wasn't trying to spy on you or anything-"
It was from Liam.
"WHY ARE YOU OUT HERE?!" I shrieked. He waved his hands in front of him and said," I'm sorry! I wasn't listening to anything you said, I'm sorry!"
I stormed into the house, fuming.
Who was he, to spy on me like that? I flopped down on the sofa and started to cry.
"Why, Dad? Why'd you have to go?" I asked in the middle of my tears.
I could feel my mom, standing next to me.
"Are you OK?" No, not.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, and I sat up. "You were crying, Syo. You weren't fine," she said, and I shook my head.
"I was laughing," I said, and my mom nodded.
"Well, dinner's ready, if you want any." Then she walked out of the room, into the kitchen.

He's started avoiding me.
Liam won't even speak to me after I stormed in the house when I discovered he was spying on me.
The fact that I had wanted

him gone is now just the opposite. I'm sad that he's gone.
It was nice, having someone there, all the time. Someone who worried as if he was family.
I kind of miss him.
I stood by my locker a few seconds before class, because, as it happens, his locker is only three down from mine. He came in, looked at me and said," Hey."
I should have said something normal, but I didn't. Instead, I asked,
"Are you mad at me, or something?"
It had been three days since the incident, and he still wasn't talking, so I guessed he must be mad.
He slowly shook his head. "I thought you were mad at me."
I wanted to roll my eyes, but my brain said no, so I didn't.
"Nah, I'm not mad," I said in the most casual tone I could manage. In truth, I was wondering if I had really acted angry with him.
"Oh," he said, and then he walked away.
I was left standing there, alone.

In the classes that we had together, he ignored me, except for the occasional hello. Other than that, it was like he had never known me
