When She Left

All it takes is one life

I opened her door.

'Grandma?'

She said nothing like she used to say before. Her face muffled with tranquility, devoid of every sorrow and pain. She was sitting with her eyes closed and her numb fingers and frozen body peacefully lying on her favorite rocking-chair.

This time she did not smile seeing my face, her short willowy hands did not move forward to embrace me. Her lips opened apart. She won't tell me stories anymore, and will never dance on my side.

She left, taking her smile, my laughter, her sorrows, my pain. Which will never return.

'Gran...'

I blinked.

And a drop of water fell from the corners of my eyes.
